Welcome to Goolwa Children's Centre
The Goolwa Children's Centre is a 65 place rural integrated children's centre which provides child care and kindergarten within the one site. Community Services such as playgroup, Child and Youth Health Clinics and parenting and health workshops are also offered from the centre.
The Goolwa Primary School is situated next door to the centre and is ideally placed to support children in a seamless transition to school.
Children and families who use the centre live in the river port township of Goolwa and the surrounding rural areas. The centre has a Category 1 rating and centre management recognises that a significant number of families experience some disadvantage. Together with local community support processes are in place to support their inclusion in centre programs.

Session Times
The following hours of operation are available to the community for child care and preschool sessions. The hours of operation are the same for all who use the centre regardless of their priority of access
Preschool sessions:
Up to five sessions per week of preschool are available for four year old children for four terms. These five sessions per week may be attended in a variety of combinations.
- 2 full days and one half day
- 1 full day and 3 half days
- 2 full days/3 full days per fortnight
- 5 half days
Full day sessions will always incorporate a one hour lunch time child care session
Pre-entry: Introduction sessions to be negotiated between staff and parents. Sessions are integrated into available preschool sessions.

Child care sessions:
Child care is provided for 10 children up to 2 years of age and up to 55 children aged 2-5 years of age (including those attending preschool)
The Child care centre is open Monday to Friday from 7.30am until 6.00pm.
Care is offered on a sessional basis. The choice of sessions available are;

The Centre is closed on Public Holidays and for a short time during the Christmas period.
Out of School Hours Care is also offered for children five to twelve years of age for morning care only: 7.30am to 8.30am
Parent Information
The centre provides quality services for children and families which support and encourage all to reach their full potential. The centre compliments care and learning within the family and supports parents, caregivers and the community. Each child is important and is seen as a unique individual. The centre recognises and values the diversity of the family.

Playgroup Information
A Community run Playgroup operates at the centre on Friday mornings from 9.30am to 11.30am integrated with the Friday morning preschool session.
Playgroup offers an opportunity for parents with young children to get together. There is a cost of $1.00 per family per session which is paid when you come along, with an additional 10cents per child to cover the Maintenance Levy.
Please bring a piece of fruit to share. All Playgroup families must belong to the Playgroup Association of SA (annual cost of $15.40 per family). This covers all members for public liability insurance.
